Hannah Paula Frisch (August 22, 1934 - December 11, 2019)

Hannah Paula Frisch was born on August 22, 1934 in Fulda, Germany to Elsa and Martin Goldsmith. She and her sister, Inge, were four and five years old at the time the family sailed from Germany to the United States in September, 1938. They arrived at Ellis Island and settled in New York City.

Hannah was a talented artist and budding fashion designer who attended a special high school for needle trades and planned to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. However, instead of continuing her education, she met her future husband, Robert Frisch, at the Nevele Hotel in the Catskills and they were married on May 22, 1955. They spent the next thirty years together until Robert’s untimely death in 1985.

They moved to Fair Lawn in 1969 where Hannah remained in the same home until her death in 2019. She worked for thirty years at Columbia University’s School of Public Health in New York City until her retirement in 2005. Nothing brought her more joy than her family. She and Robert are survived by two sons, Brian and Gary, and their wives, Ann and Christina, and a daughter, Arlene and her husband, Sid and their six grandchildren Jamie, Stacey, Tara, Robert, Jillian and Jordan. Hannah was blessed with knowing five great-grandchildren, Emory, Sienna, Aiden, Dylan and Jacob. Unfortunately, she never had the joy of meeting her future great-grandchildren including Hannah, her namesake. She is missed so very much. Nana, we love you more!
